By default nucleotide sequences are exported in GenBank format and polypeptidic sequences in FASTA format. The saving wizard allows you choose between FASTA, EMBL, GenBank, and INSD formats for nucleotidic sequences and FASTA, GenPept, and UniProt formats for protein sequences.
Changing format may result in loss of information. Each format is unique and converting between formats involves making approximations between fields.
Exporting nucleotide sequences
1. Select one or several nucleotide sequences either in the Explorer or in the Editor.
2. Choose the menu Files > Export Sequence... from the main menu or from the selection contextual menu.
3. Choose the export option from the menu:
• Current Selection: Export the selected sequences.
• Reverse Complement Selection: Export the reverse complement of the selected sequences.
• Sequence Translation: Export the translation of the selected sequences.
• Complementary Strand Translation: Export the translation of the complementary strand translation.
• 6x Frame Translation: Export all translations.
4. Follow the Wizard which will let you choose a name and a location. Click the Back button to access the Format Chooser panel if you wish to save your sequences in a format different from the GenBank format.
Exporting Protein sequences
1. Select one or several protein sequences either in the Explorer or in the Editor.
2. Choose the menu Files > Export Sequence... > Current Selection from the main menu or from the selection contextual menu.
3. Follow the Wizard which will let you choose a name and a location. Click the Back button to access the Format Chooser panel if you wish to save your sequences in a format different from the FASTA format.
